About Warmwell

A place of contradictions, on the one hand, Warmwell is a small, peaceful village steeped in history, once the site of a WWII airfield and home, to this day, to a 13th Century church. On the other hand, it is a modern, working village with a well-renowned leisure and holiday resort with dry ski slope and swimming pool.

This makes Warmwell a wonderfully diverse and interesting place to live, just ten minutes from the A35, yet surrounded by heathland, watercress beds and rolling Dorset countryside.

Perhaps one of the most interesting buildings in the parish of Warmwell is Warmwell House. It was lived in by many influential Dorset families including the de Warmwells, the Newburghs and then to the Trenchards of Wolfeton from 1526. The manor house was also once home to the eccentric 17th century prophet John Sadler, who on his deathbed before witnesses predicted the Plague, The Great Fire of London and the Monmouth Rebellion.

Close to the village is the lively Parkdean Holiday Resort of Warmell which features a dry ski slope, roller rink and fun pool and is open to the public as well as residents. Silverlake Dorset is also nearby with its luxury self-catering holiday homes and spa facilities.
