Press Release | The Rental Market has Sprung

Similarly to the rest of the UK, Dorset is experiencing an increase in the number of tenants hoping to secure a rental property this Spring. The DOMVS Lettings team is reporting a 68% increase in tenant registrations compared to the previous year, despite only a marginal increase in the number of available properties.

With offices across Dorset, DOMVS is taking enquiries from a variety of tenants with requirements ranging from one-bedroom apartments to spacious family houses. As always, well-presented, desirable properties are being snapped up swiftly and landlords who invest time and effort in presenting their properties in the best possible light are reaping the benefits of this active market.

Katie Starkey, Head of Lettings at DOMVS says “Our lettings portfolio continues to grow and as a result we have secured rental accommodation for 67% more people compared to the same period a year ago. Our network and understanding of local rental trends has enabled us to meet growing demand and our continued efforts to streamline the rental process for both tenants and landlords, has also had an impact. We anticipate the buoyant rental market to continue upwards and encourage any landlords to capitalise on current market conditions.

Katie, who is part of the Dorset farming community, is always on hand to provide a stress-free experience for landlords and tenants. Committed to being at the forefront of any legislative changes, Katie is quickly becoming an authority on the local property market, particularly among her farming peers. With family in the Piddle Valley, Gillingham and Shaftesbury areas, Katie is well-connected locally, and having spent time working in childcare and mental health services previously, Katie provides a sympathetic approach to her work. Katie’s right-hand support is Jenny Macfarlane, who is born, bred and currently residing in Blandford. Jenny graduated with a Rural Enterprise & Land Management degree and since then has firmly settled in property management. When she’s not handling the daily challenges that come with keeping tenants, landlords and their properties happy, she spends time with her 23-year-old horse, Dabster, as well as her friends within the equestrian community.
