Events for October 20, 2026

The Purbeck Film Festival is one of the longest-running rural film festivals in the UK, dedicated to bringing a world-class cinematic experience to the heart of Dorset. By transforming village halls, historic theaters, and unique outdoor spaces into vibrant screening venues, we celebrate the power of independent and international film. Our mission is to enrich our local community through a diverse program that inspires, challenges, and entertains audiences of all ages.

The Dorchester Literary Festival returns in October with a week-long extravaganza of live events with some of the world’s leading writers, thinkers and performers. History, memoir, poetry, fashion, health, exploration, nature, travel, politics, AI and fashion are just some of the varied subjects we’ll be covering, and we hope you’ll find plenty to enjoy in our line-up.
