Our Owners say, "We've so enjoyed having this as our 'safe haven' and getting an income from it when we haven't used it has been a real bonus".
This Purbeck stone cottage nestles at the foot of Bindon Hill in the coastal village of West Lulworth. Over the decades it has been a permanent home and a holiday home, and always a lovely place to be.
Stepping in through the front door, the ENTRANCE HALL is light and opens out to the dining room and the sitting room. The SITTING ROOM is wonderfully light with windows to three sides. A charming room, cool in the summer and with a central fireplace with inset wood burner, cosy on colder winter evenings. The DINING ROOM can be reached either from the entrance hall or an arch from the sitting room and is a lovely space for family meals. It is part open plan into the KITCHEN. A characterful Purbeck stone wall works as part of a divide and is a very useful wall for a Welsh style dresser. The Kitchen has a modern shaker style chic and the oil-fired AGA™ is a nod to this lovely property's cottage essence. There are all the usual white goods, washing machine, slimline dishwasher and space for a tall fridge freezer and microwave. A back door takes you out to the patio and garden. By the front door is a useful CLOAKROOM with W.C.
The stairs, in the entrance hall, take you up to the first floor and the bedroom accommodation. Up here are TWO good-sized DOUBLE BEDROOMS both wonderfully light. The attractive FAMILY BATHROOM has a bathtub with a shower over it, W.C., and wash basin. A large, glazed window to the front of the cottage draws in masses of natural light.
The cottage has a real feeling of calm and tranquillity from the moment you step through the door.
There is parking for 1 vehicle and stone steps lead up to the front path which is safety fenced with timber rails. The path leads around to the side of the house where there is a garden SHED. Follow around to the PATIO which is a wonderful sunspot and sits outside the kitchen; perfect for outside entertaining. Steps take you up to the fully lawned TIERED GARDEN which has spectacular views across the village, up to Bindon Hill and over to Hambury Hill. A DECKED AREA on the top lawn offers stunning views while enjoying a glass of something with friends and family.
This lovely home is located within a short walk of the local village school, church, public house and shop. A short distance walk and paths take you onto the coastal path and onto Lulworth Cove or you could walk to the Cove through the very pretty village. Almost opposite the property is West Street, which takes you past the Church and up the hill is Durdle Door. The riverside market town of Wareham is 8 miles away and the County town of Dorchester is just 14 miles. There are other beaches close by at Studland, Swanage and Weymouth and Corfe Castle is also a short drive, from where you can pick up the steam train to Swanage - a real treat. The mainline stations to London Waterloo are at Wool and Wareham.
